On February 13, 2026, David Rodriguez Cruz was taken into custody following a coordinated law enforcement operation within the City of Athens.

The apprehension was conducted without incident after officers executed established tactical and safety procedures. No injuries to officers or members of the public were reported during the operation.

Mr. Cruz was taken into custody and transported for processing. The case remains under investigation and additional details, including potential charges, will be released as they become available and appropriate under Tennessee law.

As with all cases, Mr. Cruz is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
