TBI INVESTIGATES OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN SODDY-DAISY
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has been called in by 11th Judicial District Attorney General Coty Wamp to investigate an officer-involved shooting that took place in Soddy Daisy early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred just after 1:45 a.m. during a traffic stop conducted by a Soddy Daisy Police Department officer in the 8600 block of Dayton Pike.
The encounter escalated for reasons that remain under investigation, leading the officer to fire at the subject and strike him. The individual was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced deceased, while no officers sustained injuries. TBI special agents are independently examining the full sequence of events by gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, with all findings to be forwarded to the District Attorney General for her review and determination on whether the officer’s actions were justified.
As per standard procedure, the TBI serves only as a fact-finding entity in such cases and does not make judgments on justification, nor does it publicly identify the involved officer—that information is left to the department.
