SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH ISSUED UNTIL 8:00 P.M.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8:00 PM CDT this evening for portions of Middle Tennessee, including Cumberland, Pickett, and Fentress counties. The watch began at 1:20 PM Wednesday, March 11. According to the National Weather Service, conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to develop in the area through the evening hours.

The main threats include the possibility of a couple of tornadoes, isolated hail up to the size of a quarter, and scattered wind gusts that could reach 70 miles per hour. Across the overall watch area, more than 3.5 million people are included, along with about 850 schools and 77 hospitals. Residents in the affected counties should stay alert for changing weather conditions through this evening.
