JURY SCAM CIRCULATING IN FENTRESS COUNTY
The Fentress County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports from citizens who were contacted by phone and told they had missed jury duty and that a warrant had been issued for their arrest. The callers then demand immediate payment to avoid arrest, often instructing victims to pay using gift cards, wire transfers, or electronic payment apps.
This is a scam.
Law enforcement agencies do not call individuals to demand payment for missed jury duty.
Citizens should not provide personal or financial information to unsolicited callers.
If you get such a call, hang up immediately and verify any claims by contacting the sheriff’s office or court directly using official contact information.
Do not send money or make payments under pressure.
