The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who escaped from their jail.

Officers say 48-year-old Joshua Wayne Metcalf was able to run away from authorities around 10 a.m. Eastern this morning.

All schools within the Hancock School System have been placed on lockdown, and surrounding law enforcement agencies are assisting as the search continues.
