ARREST MADE AFTER BODY DISCOVERED IN PUTNAM COUNTY
An arrest was made yesterday in a Putnam County murder case.
At approximately noon on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the sheriff’s office received a report regarding a missing person, Samantha Goolsby. A family member had reported her missing after she failed to come home the night prior.
At approximately 4:16 pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the sheriff’s office received a call from a homeowner on Phy Road, stating that they had found a partially concealed body along a woodline on their property. Deputies and investigators responded to the scene and observed that the body matched the description of Ms. Goolsby.
The investigation revealed that a domestic dispute had taken place on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, that resulted in the arrest of 57-year-old Lora Morgan, who confessed to shooting and killing Samantha Goolsby.
Morgan was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and fabricating or tampering with evidence.
