TBI INVESTIGATING OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN CLEVELAND
TBI agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Cleveland at the request of 10th Judicial District Attorney General Stephen Hatchett.
Around midnight, Cleveland Police Department officers responded to a call about a subject with a gun in the 3900 block of Adkisson Drive NW. Upon arrival, they encountered Danny Davis (born October 25, 1973). The situation escalated, and Davis brandished a weapon before pointing it at one of the officers. In response, two officers fired their weapons, striking Davis. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. None of the officers were injured.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is independently gathering evidence and conducting interviews to determine the sequence of events. Their findings will be provided to the District Attorney General for review. The TBI serves only as fact-finders in these cases and does not decide whether the officers’ actions were justified—that determination is made by the District Attorney General. The TBI is not identifying the involved officers and is referring any questions about their identities to the Cleveland Police Department.
