13 POUNDS OF METH SEIZED IN MCMINN COUNTY
Following a weeks-long multi-agency investigation, law enforcement in McMinn County, Tennessee, successfully seized 13 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $60,000. On Monday, the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office and the Athens Police Department conducted surveillance on two delivery locations in Athens where the narcotics, believed to have originated from a criminal operation in California, were intercepted. At least one individual was arrested during the operation, though officials have indicated that further arrests are expected as the investigation remains active.
The high-volume seizure was the result of a collaborative effort involving several organizations, including the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security, among others. Athens Police Chief Freddie Schultz praised the joint operation, noting that removing such a significant quantity of drugs from the streets is a major victory for public safety and local families. Sheriff Joe Guy echoed these sentiments, highlighting the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in disrupting drug trafficking routes into the community.
