FLORIDA WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY AFTER TRAVELING TO EAST TENNESSEE TO HAVE SEX WITH A MINOR
On April 30, 2026, 27-year-old Kasey Lynn Skaggs of Jacksonville, Florida, was sentenced to 63 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Thomas A. Varlan for her involvement in the sexual exploitation of a minor. Following her incarceration in Blount County, Skaggs will undergo 15 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. Her sentencing follows a guilty plea to charges of interstate travel for illicit sexual conduct and tampering with a victim to destroy evidence, stemming from an investigation into incidents that occurred between December 2023 and February 2024.
The case, investigated by the Homeland Security Investigations-Internet Crimes Against Children (HSI-ICAC) Task Force and local authorities, revealed that Skaggs and her husband, Jeffrey Lee Robertson, traveled to Tennessee on three occasions to engage in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl. Evidence from the victim’s phone uncovered messages where the couple enticed the minor and later instructed her to destroy records of their communication to avoid detection. This prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative dedicated to combating child sexual exploitation through the collaboration of federal, state, and local law enforcement resources.
