Bernice M. Hodge 84, of Spring City passed away Sunday May 10, 2026 at Spring City Care and Rehab Center, after an extended illness. Bernice was born in Spring City on May 4, 1942 to the late Sherman and Georgia Bare Holloway. She attended Spring City High School and later went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science Degree. Bernice was a military wife; she and her late husband Clyde traveled the world. Bernice continued traveling when she became a travel consultant. Part of her job included doing pre-inspection of various destinations all over the world; so she continued her love of travel. Bernice’s automobile tag read “TRVL ON”. Bernice dearly loved her family, especially her sisters, her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews. She also considered her many friends as her extended family. Bernice also enjoyed shopping, cooking, fishing and square dancing. With her joy of cooking, she would share with many people, including the sick and the shut-ins. All of which, Clyde would dutifully deliver all over the area.

Bernice is also preceded in death by her husband Clyde Edward Hodge; her sisters Thelma H. (Venus& Donna) Reed and Lois Harris.

Survivors include her niece Kathy Harris James and her nephew Jeff (Brenda) Harris both of Spring City and her “third sister” Barbara Cahlik of Chickamauga, Georgia. Bernice is also survived by her sister-in-law Doris (Kim) Hodge of Harrod, Ohio and her beloved Shih Tzu “Bella”. She also loved the staff of the Holiday Inn in Hixson, TN where she would sometimes stay during her many doctors appointments and treatments.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home.The family will receive friends Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 2PM until time of service at Vaughn Funeral Home. Her family requests that everyone please come prepared to share stories about Bernice.
