Funeral Services for James “Butch” Dobbs, age 86, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the F.A. Norrod Cemetery. Mr. Dobbs was born on Tuesday, April 16, 1940, in Baxter, Tennessee, to the late William and Ethel Hutchins Dobbs. Mr. Dobbs passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Mr. Dobbs was a cook and invented a grilled cheeseburger. He is survived by his wife, Anna Rhea Hargis Dobbs; stepdaughter, Charlotte Phipps; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 siblings; and stepson, Keith Phillips.
