STORMS DOMINATE THE WEEK ACROSS THE PLATEAU AND VALLEY

Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley

Repeated rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rain chances will keep conditions unsettled for much of the workweek, with warmer temperatures building later in the period.

Memorial Day (Monday): Showers and thunderstorms likely, becoming more widespread during the afternoon. Cumberland Plateau high near 76, Tennessee Valley high near 79. Areas of fog before 10 am in the Cumberland Plateau. Calm winds. Chance of precipitation: 80% Cumberland Plateau, 60% Tennessee Valley. New rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch possible, with higher amounts in thunderstorms. Locally heavy downpours and isolated flooding are possible in the Tennessee Valley.

Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, then showers likely overnight. Cumberland Plateau low around 62 with patchy fog between 8 pm and 2 am. Tennessee Valley low around 63. Calm winds. Chance of precipitation: 80% Cumberland Plateau, 90% Tennessee Valley. New rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch possible, with higher amounts in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Showers likely with thunderstorms possible through the day. Cumberland Plateau high near 77, Tennessee Valley high near 80. Calm winds becoming south around 5 mph during the day. Chance of precipitation: 80% Cumberland Plateau, 70% Tennessee Valley.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely. Cumberland Plateau low around 62 with south wind around 5 mph. Tennessee Valley low around 63 with calm winds. Chance of precipitation: 60% Cumberland Plateau, 70% Tennessee Valley.
