STORMS LINGER BEFORE A BRIGHTER PATTERN EMERGES

Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley

Daily thunderstorm chances continue through Monday before sunnier and cooler weather settles into the region during the middle of next week.

Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms remain possible, especially through the morning and early afternoon. Areas of fog early. Highs around 78 to 80. Light winds becoming east-northeast around 5 mph in some locations during the afternoon. Chance of rain 50 to 80 percent. Heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding remain possible early before conditions gradually improve later in the day.

Saturday Night: Becoming partly cloudy with only a slight chance of an early shower. Lows around 58 to 59. Light northeast winds becoming calm. Chance of rain 10 to 30 percent.

Sunday: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Highs around 78 to 79. Light winds becoming southerly around 5 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Sunday Night: Showers likely with thunderstorms possible. Mostly cloudy skies. Lows around 60. South to southwest winds around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of rain 50 to 60 percent.

Monday: A chance of showers in the morning, then scattered showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon. Patchy fog possible early. Partly sunny with highs around 79 to 82. Light winds becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 50 to 60 percent.

Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms during the evening, then partly cloudy overnight. Lows around 57 to 59. Light northwesterly winds becoming calm. Chance of rain 30 to 60 percent.

Tuesday: Sunny after any early morning shower ends. Highs around 77 to 80. North to northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 10 percent or less.
