NEARLY 420,000 FORD VEHICLES RECALLED FOR SEAT BELT ISSUE
Ford is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles, specifically certain 2018 through 2022 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models, due to a faulty seat belt issue that increases the risk of injury during a crash. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the seat belts may lock inadvertently, preventing them from extending or retracting properly, or they may retract too rapidly.
This new recall expands and replaces two previous NHTSA recalls, and comes after Ford became aware of one injury, two field reports, and two warranty claims related to the defect. Affected vehicle owners will be notified by mail and can visit a Ford or Lincoln dealership to have both front seat belt retractors inspected and replaced free of charge.
For further information, owners can reach Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or contact the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
