JAMES V. RAINES age 84 of Crossville, TN passed away June 6, 2026 at Cumberland Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1941 in Valparaiso, IN the son of the late Mitchell and LuVesta Conley Raines of Mayland, TN.

Jim was a truck driver and Teamster for 33 years. As a boy growing up, that’s what he always wanted to do.

He worked for several freight companies over the years, starting off with Hoover Express here in Crossville and ending at Consolidated Freightways in New Orleans, LA. Jim was married to Judy Girdley Raines for 64 years. They were blessed with three  sons-  Pat and his wife Briana, Tony and his wife Treasure and Randy and his wife Allison, two grandchildren-  Casey and his wife Brandi and Shelby and her husband Brandon,  great grandchildren-  Riley, Hudson, Millie Jane and Fiona. As Jim would say, he inherited a few other grandkids also, Tyler, Mary Blyth and Cade.

Funeral services will be held Thursday June 11 at 1pm at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11am-1pm two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Bro. Mike Kerley will officiate with burial in Crossville City Cemetery. Pat Raines, Tony Raines, Randy Raines, Casey Raines, Brandon Chipley and Cade Cox will serve as pallbearers.
