Samuel Stephen Queener (Steve), of Coalfield, TN, born March 27, 1944, passed away at his home on June 22, 2026. Steve was a submariner in the United States Navy for 4 years and retired from Y-12 as an electrician after 27 years.

Steve is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Cagley Queener, parents, Floyd and Ruth Queener, brother Richard Queener and wife Emily, parents-in-law Elmer Thomas Cagley, Sr. and Anna Marie, brother-in-law George Cagley and wife Lucy.

He is survived by son Michael Queener, daughter Lena Russell and husband Kendall, granddaughter Jeannette Russell and great granddaughter Serenity Russell. Brother Jack Queener and wife Margaret, in-laws Bill Cagley and wife Heidi and Tom Cagley and wife Diana, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the caregivers from Quality Private Duty: Judy Bowling, Macy Ashburn, Missy Phillips, Monica Wright, and McKenzie Ausmus.

Visitation along with a brief Military Honor Service will be on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Dolly Parton’s East TN Children’s Hospital.
