Roger Hayes Cox, age 81, of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time tending to his garden. Roger will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and the love he shared with his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Shirley Cox; his parents, Albert and Ina Cox; brother, Ralph Cox; sisters, Rozella Thacker and Diane Hall; granddaughter, Haley Marie Seeber; mother and father-in-law, Ben and Mae Turnbill; brothers-in-law, Ray Turnbill, Gene Turnbill, Tommy Turnbill (Glenda), and Leon Turnbill (Mary) niece, Lisa Johnson

Roger is survived by his daughters, Mary Viar (Ray) and Linda Young; sister, Denise Leath; brother-in-law, Roy Turnbill (Diane); sister-in-law, Sue Fritts; grandchildren, Alicia Carroll, Jason Carroll, Kasie Seeber, Josh Viar (Beth), and Beth Abner (Dylan); great-grandchildren, Melina Carroll, Silas Gray, Sabin Gray, Alivia Abner, Adley Abner, Braylan Viar, and Brexley Viar; and a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the PCM nurses and Hospice staff for the compassionate care and support they provided to Roger during his illness.

Graveside interment will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Anderson Memorial Garden at 2:00 p.m. with Wayne Morgan officiating.
