HOT DAYS DOMINATE BEFORE STORM CHANCES INCREASE

Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley

Summer heat will remain firmly in place through the Independence Day holiday. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 90s each day, with heat index values approaching or exceeding 100 degrees. While most hours will stay dry, isolated to scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms will become more common late in the week and into the holiday weekend.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and hot. Patchy morning fog is possible across the Cumberland Plateau. Highs around 91 on the Plateau and 94 in the Tennessee Valley. Heat index values up to 99 degrees on the Plateau and 103 degrees in the Valley.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear and warm. Lows around 72 on the Plateau and 74 in the Valley.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot with an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm possible. Highs around 93 on the Plateau and 95 in the Valley. Heat index values near 98 degrees on the Plateau and 105 degrees in the Valley. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear. Lows around 73 on the Plateau and 75 in the Valley.

Thursday: Sunny and hot with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible. Highs around 93 on the Plateau and 96 in the Valley. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear with a slight chance of evening showers and thunderstorms. Lows around 72 on the Plateau and 73 in the Valley. Chance of rain 30 percent.
