A joint investigation between the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryville Police Department has led to the arrest of a Lenoir City man accused of shooting out multiple automated license plate readers (ALPR) across the county.

Adam Lee Heimerman, 37, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with four counts of felony vandalism.

Law enforcement officers first discovered the damaged surveillance equipment on July 25. The subsequent investigation quickly identified Heimerman as the prime suspect. Following his arrest, Heimerman confessed to investigators that he used a firearm to shoot four separate ALPR systems between July 14 and July 22—targeting three locations in Blount County and one within Maryville city limits.

Investigators noted that in one instance, Heimerman accessed an ALPR system located on church property while parishioners were actively attending services inside.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong and Maryville Police Chief Tony Jay Crisp praised the coordinated effort between their agencies in apprehending Heimerman.

Heimerman is currently being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Blount County General Sessions Court on August 5, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
