Jessie Sanford Freeman, Jr., age 82, of Pikeville, Tennessee passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was known as “Poppy” to everyone. Jessie was a 1962 graduate of Bledsoe County High School and member of First Southern Baptist Church. He worked for David Mills well drilling in the past, loved deer hunting and wood working.

Jessie was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Joyce Cedars Freeman; parents, Jessie Freeman, Sr. and Lennie Parker Freeman; great grandson, Steve Freeman; brothers, Marvin, James, Robert Lee, William, and LeRoy Freeman; brothers-in-law, David Mills and Elton Ferguson.

Jessie is survived by his daughter, Rebekah (Willard Stewart) Smith; sons, Sandy Freeman, Scott (Donna) Freeman; grandchildren, Stephen, Shayna, Sara, Corey, Zachary, and Micayla; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Ferguson and Nina Mills; nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.
