LOUDON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNS RESIDENTS OF SCAM CALLS IMPERSONATING OFFICIALS

It’s that time again.

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has issued an urgent warning to residents regarding a wave of fraudulent phone calls. Scammers are actively using the names of agency officials—including Chief Dusty Langley—to trick citizens into believing the calls are legitimate.

Common Tactics Used by Scammers

  • Demanding Payments: Callers claim victims owe money for outstanding fines or missed jury duty.

  • Fake Bond Requests: Scammers state that funds are urgently needed to post bond for someone in custody.

How to Protect Yourself

The LCSO emphasizes that law enforcement will never call to demand payment for fines, jury duty, or jail bonds.

  • Do Not Share Information: Never give out money, gift cards, banking details, or other personal information to unsolicited callers.

  • Verify Authenticity: Anyone who receives a suspicious call should contact the Loudon County E-911 Center at 865-458-9081 and request to speak with a deputy.

Officials urge residents to spread awareness of this scheme, particularly among elderly family members and friends who are frequently targeted by such fraudsters.
