Hubert Franklin Thurman, age 89, of Pikeville, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 with his family by his side. Hubert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He served in the United States Army in Korea. Bro. Hubert was a Pastor for over forty-five years with thirty plus years at Christian House of Prayer. He worked hard all his life and labored on farms and sawmills. Hubert worked and retired from Bledsoe Telephone Co-op. Hubert had a servant’s heart and always put God first above his family. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bertha Knight Thurman; son, Ken Thurman; grandson, Jason Thurman; brothers, Venus, Dennis, Arnold, Jessie, Paul, and Leonard Thurman; sisters, Beulah Thurman and Frances Gossett.

Hubert is survived by his loving wife of seventy-two years, Barbara Ann Smith Thurman; children, Randy (Nancy) Thurman, Sandra Angel, and Carol (Randell) Hankins; grandchildren, Jonathan (Samantha) Thurman, Joshua (Susie) Burgess, Justin (Ashley) Burgess, James (Lacey) Hankins, Jarrod Thurman, Joe Thurman, Troy (Amber) Hanna, and Tommy Hanna; great-grandchildren, Rebecca (Scott) Thurman, Taylor (Allie) Thurman, Sydney (CJ) Thurman, Savannah Thurman, Lain (Alexis) Burgess, Storm (Hudson) Bledsoe, Star Burgess, Noah Burgess, Colten Wood, Dana Wood, Tristan (Sara) Hanna, Corbin Moore, Holly (Laken) Moore, Logan, Sam, Gabby (Dustin) Richardson; great-great-grandchildren, Blair Thurman, Gunner Thurman, Lennon Alnutt, Barrett Bledsoe, Adeline Burgess, and Nova Richardson; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm CDT Monday, August 31, 2026 in the Pikeville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Brown and Bro. Isaac Denney officiating. Burial will be in Pikeville City Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are his grandsons and Noah Burgess. The family will receive friends 2:00pm-8:00pm CDT Sunday, August 30, 2026 and 10:00am until service time Monday at Pikeville Funeral Home.
