The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of K-9 Deja, a cherished department member with deep ties to the community and the Jenkins family. Deja’s lineage and service spanned generations within the agency; she was the daughter of K-9 Dante, who passed away earlier this year.

Throughout her career, Deja served alongside two generations of handlers from the same family. She was originally partnered with Sergeant Chris Jenkins, and following his tragic death in the line of duty in 2022, she was partnered with his son, Sergeant Clay Jenkins. The unique partnership served as a powerful continuation of a bond that held profound meaning for the department.

Agency officials expressed deep sorrow for Sergeant Clay Jenkins and his family, noting that Deja was woven into the fabric of the department through good days and difficult times. The department honored her memory, stating she gave her best to the community and will not be forgotten.
