Martha Louise (Cooper) Davis went on to be with the Lord on September 7, 2026 in Crossville, TN.

She was born at home in Clairfield, Tennessee, on January 29, 1940, the second of six siblings. Louise met her husband Roy when she spotted him tilling her father’s field and decided she had to know that redheaded young man on the tractor. They married in 1956, when she had just turned 16, and stayed married until her death, marking 70 years together.

At 17, she gave birth to their only child, Laine Allen. Louise raised Laine and supported Roy as he entered the ministry. The family moved often through Tennessee and Kentucky as Roy served different churches, eventually settling in Crossville, where they built a lasting community.

Louise served for years as secretary of the Cumberland Plateau Baptist Association while Roy was Director of Missions there. Together they traveled on mission trips, including to Venezuela, and Louise taught Sunday school until her health no longer allowed it. She was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Louise adored her two grandchildren, who spent every other weekend at Granny’s house growing up. She planned yearly family trips to the lake with fishing, boat rides, gin rummy games, and laughs.

In the mid 2000s, a brain aneurysm and stroke left Louise permanently wheelchair bound. Roy became her full time caretaker for the last 20 years of her life.

Those who knew her remember a strong willed woman who made every holiday feel like a tradition worth keeping. She loved to cook and bake, kept a garden full of flowers, and read constantly, filling floor to ceiling bookshelves with mystery, thriller, and romance novels.

She is survived by husband, Roy Davis; son, Laine Davis; sisters, Sue Johnson and Sheila Broom; granddaughters, Lesli Davis (and husband John) and Mallory Davis Edwards (and husband Trent); great granddaughter, Opal (2); special friends Bill and Barbara Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, Ora and Murriel Cooper; sisters Shirley Huddleston (Kim) and Rosemary Osborne; and brother, Bob Cooper.

All who wish to honor Louise’s life are invited to Memorial Baptist Church in Crossville, TN, on Friday, September 11, for visitation from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00p.m. CT with service at 3:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Green Acres Memory Gardens. Memorial Baptist Church will provide a meal following the burial. Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Baptist Church building fund in her honor.
