Jimmy Franklin “Jim” Rankin, 88
Funeral Services for Jimmy Franklin “Jim” Rankin, age 88, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. David Cobb, Rev. Ted Stepp, and Rev. Thomas King will officiate with interment to follow in the Welch Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Rankin was born on Saturday, August 27, 1938, in Petros, Tennessee, to the late Ernest Leonard and Crystal Beene Rankin. Mr. Rankin passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Rankin previously worked with Douglas Aircraft and Suburban. He was an exceptional artist with a gift of wood carving crafting and selling items at Mountain Wood Carvers in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Monterey Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Tabor Rankin; daughter, Tina Rankin; and a host of other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don Rankin; sister, Camilla Rust; infant sister, Patsy Rankin; and brother-in-law, Lewis Tabor. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM until time of services at 3:00 PM. Arrangements and Care provided by D.M.
