WET AND WINDY WEEKEND AHEAD BEFORE SUNSHINE RETURNS
Clouds will dominate the sky Friday across the Cumberland Plateau and Tennessee Valley, but most of the day should remain dry. Highs will reach the upper 70s on the plateau and around 80 in the valley. Rain chances begin increasing late Friday night as a weather system approaches from the south.
Saturday looks wet and windy, with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected across both regions. Rain chances climb to 80 percent on the Cumberland Plateau and 90 percent in the Tennessee Valley. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler, with highs only in the upper 60s on the plateau and around 70 in the valley. East winds could gust as high as 30 miles per hour, especially during the day. Rain continues Saturday night, with thunderstorms still possible.
Showers remain likely Sunday, although conditions should gradually improve later in the day. Highs will reach the upper 60s on the Cumberland Plateau and lower 70s in the Tennessee Valley. The rain moves out Sunday evening, followed by a return to sunshine for Columbus Day. Monday’s highs will reach the upper 70s on the plateau and lower 80s in the valley. Tuesday brings even warmer weather, with plenty of sunshine and highs climbing into the lower to middle 80s.
