A WARMING TREND NEXT WEEK

The low temperature dipped to 30 degrees officially in Crossville Saturday morning but we had several reports in the upper 20s in Cumberland and surrounding counties. Skies will be clear tonight but it will not be as cold and we will probably not go below 40 degrees in most areas. Sunday is looking like a partly sunny day with a high in the mid to Upper 60s. A warming Trend will take us back up to 70 degrees by Monday and the low-to-mid 70s by the middle of next week.  We had low humidity this afternoon as it went down to 27%.

For about the past 20 years November has become a Time for a second tornado season for Tennessee. Usually not as bad as the spring but it is a Time much like April when we have the battle of the air masses as colder air clashes with warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. There were tornado outbreaks in November of 2002, 2005, 2007,  2013 and from 2016 through 2018, you can see that it will be a month that we will have to be on guard as about half the time there are tornadoes in our state.  If we have a threat I can promise you that I will be on duty and broadcasting all night if necessary to keep you up-to-date and safe.

So far this year there have been 35 Tennessee tornadoes that have killed 28 people and injured hundreds. 21 of the Twisters have been in Middle Tennessee and 6 in East Tennessee. The strongest was an EF-4 in Putnam County on March 3rd that killed 19 with winds possibly as high as 200 miles per hour.  You can reach me anytime at [email protected]
