ACCIDENT AT BOWMAN/ POTATO FARM INTERSECTION; ONE INJURED

According to a report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday at approximately 7:21 p.m., Deputy Holden Atkinson and other Deputies arrived at an accident at the intersection of Bowman Loop and Potato Farm Road. Upon arrival, Atkinson observed a white Honda CRV that had rolled over and had disabling damage.

Emergency Medical Personnel transported the driver of the Honda named David Eugene Bilbrey to the Cumberland Medical Center. The driver of the silver Chevrolet Tahoe, named Charity Morgan, had no injuries. The Tahoe had a flattened rear left tire and the driver’s side of the vehicle near the rear had significant cosmetic damage.

Morgan claims that Bilbrey failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Bowman Loop and side-swiped her vehicle as she was driving straight in her lane. The deputies were unable to obtain a statement from Bilbrey about why or how the accident happened due to his incoherent state.

Based on Morgan’s statements and the final resting position of the vehicles, it appears that Bilbrey crossed the center line and entered Morgan’s lane, her vehicle, and overcompensated his steering, leading to a rollover into the ditch on the right side of the roadway.

The Honda was towed by Chan’s Towing Company and the Tahoe was driven from the scene after the rear left tire was replaced.
