ALGOOD POLICE RESPOND TO SCHOOL BUS WHO SOUNDED “WEAPON ON BOARD” ALARM

ALGOOD, TN-  Yesterday afternoon, the Algood Police Department responded to the area of Mill Street and Riley’s Path in reference to a school bus alarm of a weapon present. APD and Putnam County Sheriff’s Officers arrived within moments. Upon arrival, officers were able to determine that a student passenger had in his possession a lock-blade folding knife. The student was showing the knife on the bus to another student. An uninvolved passenger observed the knife and correctly notified the driver.
The driver followed protocol and sounded the “weapon on board alarm”.
No one was threatened with the knife, and no one was injured. The student with the knife was removed from the bus and turned over to his mother, who was called to the scene. PCSO School Resource Officers are handling the situation through the administrative process.
