ALMOST 3.4 MILLION POUNDS OF TRADER JOE’S CHICKEN FRIED RICE RECALLED FOR GLASS
Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc., a company based in Portland, Oregon, has initiated a major recall of approximately 3.4 million pounds (specifically about 3,370,530 pounds) of frozen chicken fried rice products due to potential contamination with glass fragments.
The primary item affected is Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice, sold in 20-ounce plastic bags containing stir-fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat, and eggs. These products, bearing the USDA establishment number P-18356 inside the inspection mark, were distributed nationwide to Trader Joe’s stores and have best-by dates ranging from September 8, 2026, to November 17, 2026.
Additionally, the recall includes cardboard packages containing six bags each of frozen Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Rice, with best-by dates from September 9 to November 12, 2026, which were sold exclusively in Canada. The issue came to light after the company received four consumer complaints about finding glass in the product, though no injuries have been reported.
Consumers are advised not to eat the affected items, to discard them immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
