AMERICANS CAN ORDER FREE COVID TESTS STARTING OCTOBER
Americans will be able to order free COVID-19 tests from COVIDTests.gov and have them mailed to their homes, starting in October.
Individuals will be able to order four nasal swab tests upon the reopening of the program, which is overseen by the U.S. Health and Human Services agency.
The tests will be able to detect current strains of the virus and can be ordered ahead of the holidays, which is when Americans are more likely to gather and spread diseases.
Last fall’s COVID shots were designed to target a strain of the virus that is no longer in circulation, so The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention have recommended an updated COVID vaccine designed to combat recent strains and likely winter variants.
The updated vaccine was recently approved by United States regulators.
