ANDERSON COUNTY SHERIFF AWARDED SHERIFF OF THE YEAR

BBBTV12 – Anderson County Sheriff Russell Barker was named the 2025 Tennessee Sheriff of the Year by the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association during their annual convention in Sevierville, recognizing his exceptional leadership and service, particularly during the emergency response to Hurricane Helene, which devastated East Tennessee in September 2024, causing 18 deaths and widespread destruction across six counties. Barker coordinated statewide relief efforts, organizing the delivery of critical supplies like water, food, clothing, and emergency gear, and worked closely with local officials to support affected communities.
In addition to the award, Barker was elected President of the Association for the upcoming year. Tennessee Sheriff’s Association Executive Director Jeff Bledsoe praised Barker’s commitment during the crisis, while Barker humbly attributed the success to the collaborative efforts of communities, law enforcement, and the private sector, emphasizing the resilience and generosity of Tennesseans in supporting their neighbors.
