ATHENS, TENNESSEE- 1/21/2026- The Athens Police Department is investigating a stabbing incident that occurred at 711 Hamby Street Lot # 23 in Athens, Tennessee.
As a result of the investigation, David Rodriguez Cruz, a 32-year-old Hispanic male, is wanted in connection with this incident and is facing charges of Attempted First Degree Murder.
David Rodriguez Cruz is not believed to still be in the immediate area, but the public is urged not to approach the suspect if located. The suspect is to be considered dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. David Rodriguez Cruz or the vehicle location described is asked to contact the Athens Police Department immediately or call 911. Tips may also be provided anonymously through local crime reporting channels.
The victim whose identity has not been released yet, was transported to an area hospital for further treatment of the injuries.
This investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
