From the Athens Police Department:
The Athens Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the area of Tell Street and Howard Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male individuals with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was alert at the scene and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The second individual was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS personnel. Following this, the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) was called in to lead the investigation.
