In Murfreesboro, Tennessee, detectives are investigating an attempted ATM theft at a 7-Eleven-Exxon on E. Northfield Blvd., which resulted in a fatal shooting around 5 a.m. Armed thieves broke a window to steal the ATM when a customer at the store intervened, shooting and killing one of the suspects. The remaining thieves fled the scene.

Police are now processing two stolen vehicles found behind a nearby apartment complex, believed to be linked to the crime. The customer who fired the shot is cooperating with authorities, and no charges have been filed pending a determination of whether the shooting was justified.

The Real Time Crime Center is reviewing public safety camera footage, and investigators consider this an isolated incident as the investigation continues.
