AVIAGEN MAKES $25K PER ACRE OFFER FOR LAND TO CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL
Next week, the Crossville City Council will discuss and vote on a land purchase offer made by Aviagen who has offered $25,000 per acre for approximately 15 acres in the Interchange Business Park. According to Aviagen, they intend to build a new chicken hatchery at this location to support their ongoing growth in the area.
This will be a new capital project with an estimated cost of around $10 million and is expected to create $40 to 45 new jobs at an average wage of $21 per hour with benefits. The current hatchery located at 188 Industrial Boulevard will continue to operate as is.
Should the sale be approved by the city, Aviagen would offer a standard real estate contract with contingencies that would pertain to approvals and permitting requirements of all governmental parties as required by law before property closing.
Aviagen had already conducted investigations of the property, to which they said the results have been positive and do not foresee issues or concerns currently.
The issue will be voted on at next week’s city council meeting on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
