AXE-THROWING BAR TO OPEN IN KNOXVILLE
It’s a bar… it’s an axe-throwing venue… wait, it’s both. And now Craft Axe Throwing is planning to open a Knoxville location sometime this spring.
The company website describes Craft Axe Throwing as a game in which players score points by throwing axes at a giant dartboard-like target. The closer the axe lands to the bullseye, the more points a player earns.
Craft Axe Throwing Marketing Director Trent Larkins described axe throwing as kind of a cross between bowling (with sectioned-off lanes) and dart throwing (with big wooden targets).
He said the Knoxville venue will be somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 square feet, and will feature a bar and 12 to 14 axe-throwing lanes.
“People can come in here. They can throw axes,” Larkins said. “They can drink beer. It’s an interesting combination: axe throwing and alcohol.”
The exact location and a date for the grand opening have not yet been determined.
Craft Axe Throwing currently has five locations: one in Missouri, and two each Nebraska and South Carolina. In addition to the forthcoming Knoxville site, a third location is planned in South Carolina and two in North Carolina.
Craft Axe Throwing conducts both casual and competitive throwing events. All events are staffed by trained instructors.
