Funeral Services for Barnus Phillips, age 79, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 2:30 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Phipps, Rev. Dwight Henry, and Rev. Erik Cremeans will officiate with interment to follow in the Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson Community with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Phillips was born on Wednesday, January 12, 1944, in Columbia Hill, Tennessee, to the late William C. and Beulah Harris Phillips. Mr. Phillips passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at his home. Mr. Phillips was a factory worker formerly working with an upholstery plant in Baxter and with Perdue in Monterey. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of Calfkiller Hunting Club. He was a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam Era and a former member of VFW Post #6277. He was a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Tabors Phillips of Monterey, TN; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Connie and Dale Parrott of Monterey, TN; Step Daughter, Brandy Sisco (Greg Hughes) of Monterey, TN; Grandchildren, William (Emily) Phillips, Chelsea (Steven) Nugent, Will Phillips, and Ashley Parrott; Great Grandchildren, Michael Rittenberry, Stacy Rittenberry, and Rowan Phillips; Step Grandchildren, Dakota (Ciara) Pharris, Taylor Pharris, Novah Bailen, Callie Hughes, and Nastacia (Austin) Anderson; Step Great Granddaughter, Madysn Jennings; Sisters, Mary and Allen Bilbrey of Rickman, TN, Lucille Jones of Gallatin, TN, Anita Reels of Monterey, TN, Barbara and Harvey Swack of Monterey, TN, Theresa McDonald of Cookeville, TN; Brother, Junior and Kay Phillips of Rickman, TN; And a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sherwin Phillips; Sister and Brother-in-Law, Betty Jean and James Howard Thompson; and Step Great Grandson, Liam Andrew Pharris.
