BEAR PUT DOWN IN BLOUNT, CUBS RELOCATED
Another bear in Blount County was put down due to losing fear of humans, breaking into vehicles and containers, and coming too close to people.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency was called to an AirBnB on Monday to contend with a bear family, which resulted in the mother bear being put down, and the cubs being relocated to Appalachian Bear Rescue (ABR).
ABR said the mother bear would ‘come within inches of people in search of human food’, and that it was clear humans had been feeding the bear by hand, leaving them with no choice but to euthanize the bear.
The cubs, named Velma, Daphne and Scooby now count among the 24 cubs in ABR’s care, with another brought to the rescue that same day after its mother was hit by a car.
