Tomorrow’s the day and the Knights of Columbus hall on Highway 70 East is the place.

Family friends are sponsoring a fundraiser for Lucas and Leigh Ann Turner, to help defray the cost of medical expenses for their baby, Waylon, who was diagnosed in utero with spina bifida.

At 22 weeks’ gestation, Waylon was found to have spina bifida. His parents are faced with two options: pre-birth surgery or an early Cesarean delivery, followed by surgery for Waylon. Both options will require the family to spend a lot of time at hospitals and living away from home. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Turner family, to aid with medical and living expenses.

Lucas is a deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and his coworkers are making final preparations for the event, which will include a barbecue plate or a fish plate lunch for $8, plus more than 65 live and silent auction items.

The event starts at 11 and continues ’til 3.

The Knights of Columbus Hall is at 2892 Highway 70 East, about a third of a mile east of the four-way stop at the intersection of Highway 70 and Route 101 (Peavine Road).
