BETTY JUNE BROWN, AGE 90

Betty June Brown, age 90, of Harriman, entered the gates of heaven and into her new heavenly home February 8, 2021. She was born February 5, 1931, to Mel and Minta Nicely Shoebotham at Harbensons Cross Roads in Knoxville. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior on the eve of her eleventh birthday at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Grainger County. She married the love of her life, Harold Dean Brown, on November 28, 1949. They were married for nearly 43 years. She spent most of her adult years in the Swan Pond community of Harriman with her husband Harold and they raised their family together there.

June, as she was known by her family and friends, worked for a short period of time at the Roane Hosiery Mill in Harriman, and she and her family owned and operated Sandwich World in the Tri-County Mall in Oliver Springs for nearly 20 years. She loved singing hymns, telling others about Jesus, writing poetry, gardening, especially flowers, reading, and walking for exercise and to be outdoors. June had also written some poetry that had gotten published. The thing she loved most of all though, was enjoying spending time with her family and going to church. June dearly loved her family and each one was precious to her. Her greatest joy will be to meet each of them in heaven.

June was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Whites Creek in Rhea County. She was formerly a member of Bible Baptist Church in Harriman for approximately 50 years.  While at Bible Baptist Church she taught Sunday School for several years and all the students loved her dearly. She also played the piano on occasions.

June was preceded in death by her parents: Mel Shoebotham and Minta Nicely Shoebotham; husband: Harold Dean Brown; granddaughter: Wava Nicole Tipton; and sister-in-law: Wava Brown Shoebotham.

June is survived by her brother: Harry Mel Shoebotham; children: Dean Brown (Lori), Karen Brown Tipton Jones, Rick Brown (Janet), and Ron Brown (Kathy); grandchildren: Brooke Brown (Stacy), Marlana Brown Ward (Todd), Candace Brown Wilson, Kevin Tipton (Regina), Amanda Brown DeBoer (Chad), Jennifer Brown Pickwell (Jeremy), Kerri Brown Shingleton (Tyler), Adam Brown (Brittany), and Megan Brown Blevins (Bobby); 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at Union Grove Cemetery in Sunbright, Tennessee Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1 p.m. eastern.
