Betty Moore Scott, 87, of Kingston, TN passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at Roane Medical Center, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Betty was a faithful and devoted member of Tennessee Missionary Baptist Church for 71 years, where she taught the children’s Sunday school class, served as cemetery treasurer for 42 years and always worked hard to ensure the cemetery was maintained beautifully.
A lifelong resident of Roane County, Betty worked at Burlington Hosiery Mill, Kingston Elementary School cafeteria, and retired from Maremont Mufflers.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Pearl Scott Jr, parents Charlie and Wilma Breazeale Moore, brother Hop Moore and wife Barbara Farr, sister Nancy Moore Lawson, daughter-in-law Becky Brown, niece LeeAnn Moore Porter, and best friends Barbara Guinn and Ruth Marney.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sherry Scott and son Mark Scott, brother Bob and wife Mary Lane Moore, brother-in-law Bill “Cobb” Lawson, and friend and caregiver Linda Palmer Tate.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 12, 2025, from 6 pm – 8 pm at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston. Funeral services will be held the following day, December 13 at 2 pm at Tennessee Missionary Baptist Church in Kingston, with the Revs. BB Ratledge and Jasper Greg Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express special thanks to Roane Medical Center ICU for their excellent, compassionate care.
