Betty Taylor, 86
Betty Taylor, age 86, of Kingston left this world on Sunday, December 15, 2024 for her new heavenly home.
Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother as well as an amazing steward to her community! She never rested… While raising children she owned and operated Volunteer Refuse Garbage Company; was on the City of Kingston City Council for twelve years, serving four of those as Vice-Mayor. She also served as the Director of United Way of Roane County. Betty was active in countless volunteer organizations as well as starting up the non-profit “Teen Scene” in the 80’s and 90’s. She always said outside of her family her greatest accomplishment was pushing to get the walking trail around the lake in Kingston built where she spent much of her later years walking with her dog. She always wanted to leave this place a little better than when she found it! She sure did!
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe E. Taylor; mother & stepfather, Gladys & Harvey Noe; and father, OJ Spangler.
Survivors include her son, Jason Taylor & wife, Kyrie of Kingston; daughter, Jolene Goode of Harriman; son, William Taylor & wife, Amanda of Ft. Myers, Florida; son, Paul Taylor & wife, Ellie of Knoxville; brother, Dennis Spangler of Harriman; and six grandchildren.
