BLAIR, DYLLIS AND POPLAR CREEK WITHOUT POWER; FALLEN TVA POLE
Several customers in the Blair, Dyllis and Poplar Creek areas were without power earlier today after a TVA power line fell down across Blair road between Dyllis Road and Poplar Creek, shutting off power for several customers in the area that Harriman Utility Board serves.
According to officials with HUB, the power pole owned by TVA fell across the road around 3:00 a.m. HUB was able to transfer some power from one substation to another to get most of the residents back online with power after several hours, but many residents on Robinette Road were still without power according to officials on the scene with hub.
TVA is still working to get the pole back up and Blair Road between Dyllis and Poplar Creek was still closed around 2:30 this afternoon and work continued to get the power line back up. After that is completed, HUB says they will have to transfer the power that was coming from one substation to another back to normal which may result in a few glitches of power for some customers.
HUB is continuing to update customers affected via their Facebook page as this process continues. HUB wishes to thank everyone for their patience but again this was a TVA issue and not their line that fell.
HUB is currently experiencing an outage that is affecting all of Blair, Sugar Grove Valley, and all our customers up to Oliver Springs. TVA has a main transmission pole that is broke and is currently blocking Blair Rd. They have been notified and are in route to access their situation. This will take several hours to repair and we will make updates as soon as we get them from TVA. Blair Rd. will be closed in between Poplar Creek Rd. and Old Harriman Hwy. while TVA makes their repairs.
Blair Road is closed between Dyllis Road and Poplar Creek Road.
We’ve lost the entire Blair Substation and have crews in place to reroute as much of the power as we can out of another substation. We are planning to feed Dyllis Elementary School as soon as possible.
