BLOUNT COUNTY DEDICATES BRIDGE TO HONOR FALLEN POLICE OFFICER

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong joined other local law enforcement officers, county and city officials, and citizens today for a bridge dedication to honor Maryville Police Officer Kenny Moats, who was murdered in the line of duty on August 25, 2016. The dedication took place at the bridge on Ellejoy Road near River Ford Road. The Blount County Highway Department designed and unveiled the sign during the ceremony. The Moats family was on hand for the dedication, and they were joined by Sheriff James Lee Berrong, Maryville Police Chief Tony Jay Crisp, Blount County Mayor Ed Mitchell, Blount County Highway Superintendent Jeff Headrick, Representative Jerome Moon, Blount County Clerk of Courts Tommy Hatcher, Blount County Trustee Scott Graves, and Blount County Commissioners Brad Bowers, Steve Mikels, Mike Akard, Ron French, and Nick Bright.
