BLOUNT COUNTY TOURISM REVENUE RANKS 8TH HIGHEST IN THE STATE

Blount Partnership reported a 6% increase in tourism revenue from 2023 to 2024 in Blount County, Tennessee, a trend that Communications Director Jeff Muir hopes will continue. The organization has focused on attracting outdoor enthusiasts, emphasizing the area’s natural attractions like the Smoky Mountains, which appeal to visitors seeking a peaceful escape from urban areas.

Despite lacking a major city like Nashville or Memphis, Blount County remains a top tourism earner, drawing visitors like April Jedziniak from Florida, who values the tranquility of the region. The accessibility of the Smoky Mountains, within a day’s drive for many Americans and supported by expanded flight options at McGhee Tyson Airport, enhances the county’s appeal.

Blount Partnership is strategically marketing to areas with direct flights to the airport and supporting community efforts, such as new hotels and event centers in Downtown Maryville, to ensure visitors have ample activities, aiming to sustain and grow tourism numbers.
