Just after 1:00 p.m. yesterday, Roane County Sheriff’s Department deputies and detectives were sent to Eagle Furnace Road where the pull-off lake access is located. When authorities arrived, they found a man dead in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. Rockwood police Chief Kelly Pittman responded to the scene after being asked to do so by the Sheriff’s Office since Rockwood could be at the scene quicker than they could at the time to secure the scene.

Eagle Furnace Road was shut off for a while for the investigation.  At this time there is no further information. The body was transported by a Roane County Rescue Squad unit to the Roane Medical Center.
