BOND REDUCED FOR PICKETT COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

A Pickett County man appeared in Overton County Criminal Court yesterday charged with vehicular homicide. Troopers says the crash happened late last year when an automobile driven by 40-year-old Michael Lynn Owens of Byrdstown rear-ended a 1952 antique Chevrolet operated by 71-year-old Bob Allen of Cookeville on Highway 111. Allen died at the scene. A grand jury later indicted Owens for vehicular homicide by intoxication. In court yesterday, a judge lowered the bond for Owens from $100,000 to $50,000. Owens next court date is scheduled for September 21, 2020.
