The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that Bradley County authorities have located the driver and vehicle suspected in a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 64, approximately 2 miles west of the Polk County line. The victim, a 68-year-old Bradley County resident named Gina M. Lucht, was initially struck by a black vehicle that sustained significant front-end damage and fled the scene.
Shortly afterward, a passing motorist spotted the injured pedestrian in the roadway and attempted to turn around to block traffic and protect her, but was unable to stop a second vehicle from striking her as well. Lucht later succumbed to her injuries and died. The driver of the initial hit-and-run vehicle is the only one who left the scene, while the second driver and other involved parties remained on site. Names of the drivers have not been released due to the ongoing investigation.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office credited public tips for helping locate the suspect vehicle and expressed gratitude to the community and assisting law enforcement agencies, with the case remaining active and further details to be released as they become available.
