BRIDGE REPAIR PROMPTS I-40 LANE CLOSURES IN LOUDON COUNTY

Motorists traveling on I-40 in Loudon County should be aware of upcoming bridge repair activities that will have an impact on traffic.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 3, I-40 will be reduced to one lane in each direction at MM 363 in Loudon County to allow for repairs to the bridge that spans over Paw Paw Plains Road.  This bridge repair work is taking place approximately one mile from Exit 364 (Lenoir City/US 321).

These lane closures will be in place 24/7 until no later than 6 a.m. on Monday, October 6. The third and final weekend of bridge repair work, which requires lane closures in this area, will begin on Friday, October 17.

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.  Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.

As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and “Know Before You Go!” by checking travel conditions before leaving for your destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel. The TDOT SmartWay system provides the latest updates for road construction activity.
